YOUR INFORMATION

Privacy Policy

Updated September 17, 2026. This notice describes the features of booksbymp.com, operated by Michael Paul Patrick. Questions or requests may be sent to Michael@booksbymp.com.

The reader list

When you sign up, the site stores your email address, signup date, the version of the consent notice you accepted, and a unique unsubscribe identifier. This information is used to maintain your reader-list subscription for book release news, Horrorverse updates, and signed-copy announcements. Joining is optional and separate from following Michael on Substack.

The site currently collects signups but does not send automated welcome emails or newsletters. Email delivery is not yet connected. Subscriber information is not displayed to other visitors.

Storage and service providers

The site and its subscriber database are hosted through OpenAI Sites and its hosting infrastructure. Those services process information needed to deliver and secure the website. Web requests can include technical information such as an IP address, browser information, and the requested page. This notice does not promise that hosting providers keep no operational logs.

The reader list is retained for its stated purpose until you unsubscribe or it is no longer needed. Removing a signup deletes it from the active subscriber table; hosting backups and operational records may follow the provider’s retention processes.

Your choices

New subscribers receive a removal link on the signup confirmation screen. You can also contact Michael@booksbymp.com to request access, correction, or removal of your subscription information. We may need to verify that a request concerns your own address. Do not send passwords or sensitive personal information.

Music and interactive experiences

The optional music player uses your browser’s session storage to remember playback position, volume, and playback choice during a visit. These preferences are not added to the subscriber database. You can pause the music at any time.

The Dreadmere walkthrough loads from a separate OpenAI Sites address inside this website. Your browser contacts that host when the experience loads. The Choosing quiz and atlas provide interactive reading experiences; they do not require newsletter signup.

The Horrorverse character quiz processes answers in your browser and does not send them to the subscriber database. Answers reset when you leave or reload the quiz. A result link identifies only a fictional character; sharing it makes that result visible to anyone who opens the link. Downloading a character card does not subscribe you to the reader list. Your device or social platform handles any sharing you choose.

Other websites and purchases

Amazon, Audible, TikTok, Substack, and other linked services have their own privacy practices. Following a link takes you to that service. Purchases currently happen with the retailer; this website does not collect payment-card details or shipping addresses.

Children

This site presents horror fiction and is not directed to children under 13. Please do not submit a child’s information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can address it.
