Michael P. Patrick is a husband, father, author, and ARDS survivor.
After a car crash and a serious complication during cervical spine surgery, he became critically ill and spent weeks in the intensive care unit, including time on a ventilator in a medically induced coma. While he does not remember the first week, he vividly remembers the days that followed—marked by severe ICU delirium, hallucinations, and fear that reshaped his understanding of survival and recovery.
The experience profoundly affected not only Michael, but his wife and family, who endured their own trauma while waiting, hoping, and learning that discharge from the ICU is not the end of the story. He now using that knowledge to advocate for others suffering from Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS)
Encouraged by a trauma counselor, Michael began writing as a way to process what happened. That writing became a doorway into psychological horror, thrillers, survival memoirs, and children's detective stories.
